The Junction is a safe, friendly, confidential centre which offers lots of health related services, education, advice and support for young people in Leith and North East Edinburgh aged 12-21.
We think it’s important to listen to young people and find out what they think and want. That’s why young people have been consulted throughout the set up of the Junction. We recognise that young people prefer to pop along to health services that are especially for them rather than go to their local GP practice which can sometimes be a bit scary, especially if their whole family goes there!
Here at the Junction, we are working to promote long-term prevention of health problems and raise young people’s
awareness and self esteem and empower them to make informed choices about their health and well-being. The aim is to help them help themselves which if successful will ultimately have a positive effect on the community as a whole.
The Junction’s objectives:
- To offer young people a friendly, welcoming space where they can get advice, information & support on all sorts of health & wellbeing issues;
- To recognise that all young people are individuals, make sure absolutely everyone feels welcome and receives equal support in helping them make their own choices;
- To provide a confidential service that is open at times to suit young people and easy for them to use;
- To involve young people in the development of the centre.
